Cello course

Tim Lowe is a Cello Professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

As well as a large class of students, Tim spends much of his time playing solo a chamber music recitals across the UK and Europe. He also plays as Guest principal Cello with many of the UK’s major orchestras include the BBC symphony orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic as well as many others.

Tim is the Artist Director of the York Chamber Music Festival in the UK. 

His cello was made by Carlos Tononi in 1716 in Italy.

Tim was a chorister at York Minster, after which he won a major music scholar to Eton College. After five wonderful years at Eton, Tim continued his studying at the Royal Academy of Music and then the Guildhall in London where he was awarded both a 1st class Honours degree and a 1st class Masters degree.

As well as Tim’s busy playing career he is very passionate about music education both in younger children and right through until the very highest level with his Bachelor and Master’s students in London. He teaches on courses and privately throughout the year both in person and online.
